LCD alphanumeric display - Hitachi

Anyone interested in testing a Hitachi LCD display with Viper?
I found this Python library for raspberry Pi I think can be used in Viper with few minor changes.
https://pypi.python.org/pypi/RPLCD/

Actually i don't have with me a LCD for testing it.
Can someone try it?

Hi I have a 16x2 HD44780 LCD. I would be interested in testing. Do you have a library for viper?
    EDIT:
It require 5v and only parallel connections...too much cables xD (the ones that I own)
  • not yet, do you want to try porting the raspberry pi library?
    anyone interested in supporting?

    I can contribute...

I don't think I'll work on it. Maybe if I buy an I2C or SPI LCD I will. I don't like too much cables xD
  • me too..... this is why i don't have that hardware for testing  ;)

  • @Davide,

if you manage to get this one, I can support you in developing the library. I have one of this things sitting somewhere on the desk... :p

Is SPI always preferable over I2C? I found a very cheap 0,96" oled display available in i2c or spi.

    HI

Just an update to say I am working on porting the raspberry library to Zerynth. I manage to write an 'hello world' to a 16x2 lcd hd44780 lcd screen. Still some bugs and cleaning to do, but work in progress ;-)

    Hi,

I am doing a bit of cleaning in the code and will publish it very soon.

What's the good way to do? As it is developped in zerynth ide, is it publicly available?
